Karma Yoga Fest Lucky 13
Welcome to the year of the Yin Water Rabbit.
This black rabbit is leading you to restore yourself and reconnect to your practice and your community at our 13th Annual Karma Yoga Fest!
This event is our way at The Collective, to give back to our community, and to practice getting off the mat and DO-ing something to help.Karma Yoga is the yoga of Action, and this year our actions will helpto fund scholarships to help those in need who want to pursue taking the step to become yoga teachers! We know more yoga teachers in the
world equals more opportunity for healing the collective. Good Karma indeed!
We will also have a scholarship available for a veteran to participate in a healing yoga retreat. Our veterans have paid a huge cost in their serviceto our country, and many our struggling to recover from the trauma of war.Part of KYF is the inclusion of our version of Yoga for Trauma training, that we call The Resiliency Project. Learning how to be resilient post trauma is
how we can begin to, as my teacher says, turn your mess into your message.
Karma Yoga Fest kicks-off on Saturday, August 12th, with a Farm-to-Table dinner at The Collective, featuring all of the organic and local bounty of our region. The dinner includes a Kirtan performance (and participation) with the incredible Govind Das, as well as a Sacred Cacao ceremony and an interactive art project (created by Larie Underwood) we have dubbed
“River of Light”. You will be able to create a lantern, decorated with your art and intentions, that we will float onto the river at the end of our evening. Trustme, it is pure magic!
Sunday, August 13th, will bring our main Yoga Fest starting at 9 a.m. with our 108 Sun Salutes with live electric guitar. You might think you cannot do that many salutes… but I promise you of the last 13 years I’ve seen all ages, all abilities enjoy this event, flowing with their body as their prayer in the vibration of music and nature.
